Tragic News on Cargo Plane Incident: Death Toll Increases to 13

The number of lives lost resulting from the UPS cargo plane which caught fire and plummeted has reached 13, according to official reports.

City Leader's Announcement

Traveling to the Workers’ memorial service, I was informed of a 13th person that lost their life as a consequence of the aircraft accident,” wrote the local official in a public communication. “My prayers are with the families, companions and colleagues of all who were lost in this week’s disaster. We will endure this as one.”

Casualties Identified

An announcement from the company identified the pilots operating the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts go out to all staff member who has been affected and all in our Louisville community – helping you and ensuring you obtain the care and aid you need is our priority,” the organization’s message stated.

Investigation Updates

National authorities announced that the jet’s left wing burst into flames and an motor detached just after liftoff from the airfield, causing the aircraft to plummet and explode into a fireball.

The safety agency has said it is examining the aircraft’s upkeep logs, which was in the state for maintenance several weeks ahead of the accident.

Aviation records revealed the jet was on the ground in San Antonio, Texas from early September to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this plane was located in the facility,” remarked an official on the following day, without a precise time frame. “We will examine every piece of repairs that was completed, including the Texas time, all the way to the time of the flight.”

Retrieval of Vital Items

The audio device and flight data recorder were recovered, and the motor was located on the tarmac.

The devices – referred to as black boxes – were built to survive accident forces and intense fire from fires, and they looked to be intact when located within the wreckage. Officials plan on reviewing information from the devices.

The plane’s concluding recorded information showed an elevation of 475 ft and a velocity of that speed ahead of the accident.

Maintenance History

Based on Federal Aviation Administration documents from that date, a fracture on a structural piece within the tank area required repairs.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies structural repairs for UPS’s jet and operates a maintenance center in San Antonio, chose not to speak, but expressed it would assist completely when investigators reached out it.

Activities Resume

In the meantime, the hub services resumed last night with its express or nighttime operation, spokesperson a representative said. The three runways at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also reopened.

The distribution hub in this location is the organization’s most significant. The facility employs more than 20,000 workers in the area, manages numerous aircraft each day and organizes more than 400,000 packages each hour.

Local Response

A gathering was conducted on the late afternoon of that date by the area Teamsters Union, which represents employees at the airfield, the organization’s largest freight center.

The union chapter, which supports employees, commenced the gathering with a period of reflection at the evening hour, the approximate time of the incident previously.

“This incident was so abrupt, so unforeseen,” the leader told the crowd of attendees. “No one had a moment to part to each of those who we have mourned.”
